Arab nations congratulate new Somali president.

Several Arab nations including have hailed Somalia’s newly elected president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and congratulated him on his victory after beating former TFG president Sharif Sheikh Ahmed by 190 to 79 votes in a ballot of newly elected MPs.

Egyptian President Mohammed Mursi congratulated Mr. Mohamud and urged Somalis to unite and rebuild their country after suffering two decades of lawlessness and famine.

United Arab Emirates has also welcomed the Monday’s presidential election in the chaotic horn of African country and in particular the election of Mr. Mohamud.

UAE’s president Sheikh khalif bin Zayid Al-Nahyan gave a thump-up to the newly elected Somali president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

Mohamud was elected the president of the republic of Somalia in a hotly contested presidential election held in Mogadishu last Monday, the first democratic election in Mogadishu for the last two decades.
