A local aid worker was overnight killed in Dharkeynley neighbourhood of Mogadishu, eyewitnesses said.

The late Adan Mohamed Saman was working with a local aid agency in the Somali capital.

Eyewitnesses told sunatimes that two men armed with pistols shot dead Saman as he was leaving a parking lot.

The assailants escaped the scene before police arrived.

The motive of the killing is still unclear and no group claimed responsibility of the assassination.

Since the ousting of Al-shabaab militants a year ago, Mogadishu has seen rise in assassinations mainly against journalists and government workers.
